On May 19th, 2024, delegates from the Bhutan Agrifood Trade and Investment Forum (BATIF) conducted a comprehensive field visit to the National Research and Development Centre for Riverine and Lake Fisheries (NRDCR&LF) as part of their scheduled program in Haa. The visit provided an in-depth overview of the Centre’s mandates, its various functional units, and a summary of its notable achievements and ongoing challenges. Additionally, the delegates were briefed on the current status of sturgeon farming in Bhutan, an emerging sector with significant potential. The visit also included a guided tour of the Centre’s facilities, highlighting the Rainbow Trout and sturgeon rearing units, as well as the Fish Repository Unit, gaining insights into the practices being implemented.
